I really can't complain too much. We went the opposite way of most folks so we really didn't have too much of a crowd around us. The kids did really well looking at the exhibits. Our first stop was the Africa exhibit the zoo has worked on for the past several years. It is really first rate!
I actually managed to catch a really good one of the three kids posing at the elephant statue. I think it's actually the first picture I have ever gotten of the kids standing together and looking approximately in the same direction.
The kids enjoyed the porcupine, although they were a bit skittish knowing that the quills can hurt you. This particular exhibit was really need considering you were only a foot or two above the animal.
After seeing the porcupine, we visited the Lorries. I bought some nectar for a dollar, and then the fun ensued. Kevin nearly got pooped on, but was spared by several inches. Kiera had one bird land in her hair who took a liking to her pony-tail holder. She giggled until his nails started scratching her head a little. However, afterward, she thought it was the neatest thing in the world.
After the Lorries, it was off to the petting zoo. You can see the videos of that below. After the petting zoo, we headed to the kids' place. I caught this one of Kevin as he looked at the prarie dogs.
Kids started getting a little cranky at the kids' place, so we decided to head to the train depot. Along the way, Uncle Bubba and the kids posed for a picture.
Kevin, Jr. is very much into trains right now, and he thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
After the train ride, we headed to Cheesy Jane's a little burger joint off of Broadway. Delicious burgers. Since we went with one of Dawna's high school friends and her kids, we had to wait a while. While we waited, I entertained the kids by letting them play in the old Chevy pick up in the parking lot.
